Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Henderson's early life was marked by exposure to the harsh realities of urban living, but also by the influence of his father, a local historian and pastor, and his mother, a politician and Army veteran.
Henderson's passion for the arts was ignited early, and he began performing in church plays. He attended Alfred State College on a football scholarship, but continued to nurture his creative side. After experiencing the tragic loss of his best friend to gun violence, Henderson realized the importance of pursuing his dreams and began formal training as an actor at HB Studios in New York City.

He has written, produced, and directed feature documentaries, short films, commercials, and music videos, and has worked with notable figures in the industry, including Eriq LaSalle and Chadwick Boseman.
