Aaron Ashmore, born just one minute before his identical twin brother Shawn, was raised in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. His parents, Linda, a homemaker, and Rick, a manufacturing engineer, played a significant role in his early life. When Aaron and Shawn were 10 years old, their mother, Linda, joined a unique club, which they affectionately referred to as "The Multiple Rugrats," a support group for multiple birth families in Alberta, Canada.
This club was instrumental in the twins' discovery by a talent agent, leading to their early start in the entertainment industry. They began with commercials, sometimes appearing separately and sometimes together. At the age of 12, Aaron was offered a commercial role, but unfortunately, he fell ill on the day of the shoot, and Shawn took his place. This marked the beginning of Shawn's career taking a slight lead over Aaron's.
Throughout high school, the twins were often mistaken for one another, but as they grew older, their individual talents and characteristics began to diverge. They were offered distinct roles, and their physical appearances started to differ. Aaron, now more robustly built with a broader face and shoulders, stands at 6'0", an inch taller than his brother Shawn, who is 5'11". Aaron attributes this height difference to "shoes and hair."
Today, Aaron resides in Toronto, where he shares an apartment with his twin brother Shawn, maintaining a close bond despite their diverging paths.
