An accountant named Grant takes a trip to Las Vegas and meets a seductive woman named Marissa at a casino. While spending time with Marissa at a motel, her violent ex-boyfriend Joey appears, attacks Grant, and is killed by him in self-defense. Grant tries to bury Joey's body in the desert on Zyzzyx Road, but it has vanished when he opens the trunk of his car. He then searches for Joey in the desert, eventually finding him hiding in an abandoned mine.
