A disillusioned cop, Nick Pulovski, sees a chance to redeem himself when he discovers a major car theft ring led by Strom. After his partner's murder, the case is transferred to homicide, and he's assigned a new partner, David Ackerman, a recent detective. Despite being taken off the case, Pulovski continues to pursue Strom, while Ackerman struggles to balance his duty to follow procedure with his fear and uncertainty stemming from a childhood incident.
