Tom and Matt, two best friend gangsters, lead lucrative lives bootlegging during Prohibition, but their actions are disapproved by Tom's brother Mike and Matt's sister Molly. As they grow older, Tom's behavior becomes increasingly reckless and intolerant, causing tension among his gang. When a mob boss dies, a rival faction sees an opportunity to strike, and a gang war erupts.
