In the midst of World War II, a Jewish man named Lucas Steiner is forced to flee Paris, leaving behind his wife Marion, a talented actress and theater director. Marion attempts to keep the theater alive by staging a new play, enlisting the help of actor Bernard Granger for the lead role. However, unbeknownst to Marion, Lucas is actually hiding in the theater's basement, adding a poignant layer to their story about the intersection of art and life.
