Mahmud Nasir, a London resident, discovers his adopted status and Jewish heritage after his mother's death. He keeps this information hidden from his family and begins to learn about Judaism with the help of his neighbor, Leonard Goldberg. Meanwhile, his son plans to marry Uzma, the stepdaughter of a controversial Islamic cleric, Arshad Al-Masri.
