The Crooked Web background

The Crooked Web

A cunning government agent employs a strategic plan to persuade a fugitive to surrender, convincing him to return to Germany, where his alleged crimes are believed to have taken place.

A cafe owner is unwittingly drawn into a scheme by a woman and her supposed brother to uncover a fortune in stolen gold buried during World War II. Unbeknownst to the cafe owner, the duo are actually undercover agents seeking a confession for a murder he committed in Germany. The woman manipulates the cafe owner's affections, convincing him to join the Army to gain access to the buried treasure, now located on a U.S. Army reservation.
