A writer for an online magazine returns to her hometown of Pine River after 20 years to research a story on the town's wish-granting Angel Tree. She's tasked with uncovering the identity of the mysterious Angel, who grants Christmas wishes. Along the way, she reconnects with her childhood friend and diner owner Matthew, who's determined to keep the Angel's identity a secret. As she works on her article, she joins forces with the townspeople to grant numerous wishes, including one for a young boy whose mother is deployed in South Korea.
