Michael Peck, a 104-pound sophomore, wants to join the wrestling team, but his parents instead sign him up for the Science Club. Feeling stifled, Michael skips school with his friend Geiger and meets two senior girls, Emily and Becca. He begins a relationship with Emily, who is much more sophisticated than him. Through their interactions and his science classes, Michael develops a science fair project that shocks the school system out of its complacency.
