In a China ravaged by war, a young English boy must confront the harsh realities of life under Japanese occupation during World War II as he fights to survive.
The story follows James Graham, a boy whose life is disrupted by the Japanese invasion of Shanghai in 1941. After being separated from his parents, he is taken to a confinement camp, where he struggles to maintain his sense of self and brings hope to those around him.
