Biography

Nigel Havers is a renowned British actor, widely recognized for his prolific career in television since the 1970s. Born as the younger son of Michael Havers, QC, a prominent Conservative Member of Parliament for Wimbledon, Attorney General from 1979 to 1987, and Lord High Chancellor of England in 1987.

Following a private education, Havers pursued his passion for acting by attending a drama school affiliated with the Oxford Playhouse, concurrently participating in university productions that often featured revues and comedies. He showcased his talents in a revue adaptation of "Twelfth Night" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which subsequently transferred to London and caught the attention of an American director who brought the production to the United States.

Throughout his illustrious career, Havers has landed numerous starring roles in prominent British television series, such as Nicholas Nickleby in 1977, A Horseman Riding By in 1978, Don't Wait Up in 1983, The Charmer in 1987, and Dangerfield in 1995. He has also made significant guest appearances in cult series like The Sarah Jane Adventures in 2007 and The Life of Rock with Brian Pern in 2014, and has played the recurring role of Lewis Archer in the long-running soap opera Coronation Street, which premiered in 1960.
