Androcles and the Lion background

Androcles and the Lion

In ancient Rome, a devoted Christian forms an extraordinary bond with a regal lion, transcending their vastly different realities amidst perilous events.

A Christian, Androcles, lives by the principles of his faith, even extending compassion to animals. When he finds a wounded lion, he removes a thorn from its paw, forging an unlikely friendship. Later, Androcles and fellow Christians are captured, sentenced to death by being devoured by lions in the arena. Perhaps, fate will bring a lion with a recently healed paw to the scene, recalling the kindness of the man who once helped it.
