Cassie, a former off-Broadway director, returns to her hometown of Dickens to direct a local production of "A Christmas Carol" on its 100th anniversary. When the lead actor loses his voice, Cassie must find a replacement or risk cancellation. The mayor suggests she approach Jake, a local action movie star, who grew up in Dickens. Despite their complicated past, Cassie convinces Jake to take on the role, but their differing artistic visions lead to tension as they work together, rekindling old feelings.
