A 70-year-old professor, Dominic Matei, is contemplating suicide after the loss of his loved one and the inability to complete his life's work on the origins of language. However, after being struck by lightning, he miraculously grows younger and gains superhuman powers. As World War II breaks out, he must escape to Switzerland to avoid being exploited by Nazi scientists. Years later, he meets a woman who has also experienced a lightning storm, and her new abilities hold the key to his research, allowing him to find love and complete his life's work.
