Boston's Charlestown neighborhood has a notorious reputation for producing generations of armed robbers, who are bound by an unwritten code to protect their lifestyle. Doug MacRay, James Coughlin, Albert 'Gloansy' Magloan, and Desmond Elden are part of this group, with Doug and James sharing a particularly close bond. After a successful bank robbery, they take manager Claire Keesey hostage, but release her unharmed. As they learn she lives in Charlestown, they want to ensure she won't incriminate them. Doug begins a personal relationship with Claire to gather information, but finds himself falling for her.
