A lackluster presidential hopeful's uninspiring presence sparks the recruitment of a charming doppelganger to revamp their public image.

A presidential candidate's hopes are dashed when his party decides he lacks charisma. However, they discover a doppelganger, a charismatic medicine show huckster named Doc Varney, and plan to use him as a public spokesperson. Varney initially fools the candidate's girlfriend, adding a romantic twist. As election day approaches, the conspirators must decide what to do with Varney, who also faces personal dilemmas.
