In July 2009, journalist Gerard Martinez committed one of Tampa's most infamous crimes, killing 10 people and himself at a museum. Martinez had become obsessed with proving the existence of Mon Protecteur, a mythical French superhero, and was making a documentary on the topic. The film uses his footage, police evidence, and interviews with those close to him to explore the obsession that led to the tragedy and whether Martinez truly found the hero or was deceived by a con artist.
