In 1960, the up-and-coming Beatles venture to Hamburg's underground music scene, seeking stardom. There, they encounter a circle of avant-garde Germans, including Astrid Kircherr, who captivates Stuart Sutcliffe, the band's bassist. As Sutcliffe's infatuation grows, his friend John Lennon is left to observe, struggling with the decision between his passion for music and a potential new life in Germany.
