The Presence of Snowgood is a movie based on a classic ghost story set in the Sussex countryside, inspired by a novella by MR James. It follows the legend of a valuable Saxon crown and the deadly consequences that ensue when it's sought after by those who shouldn't have found it. The film jumps from an historical explanation of the legend to a dramatic depiction of what happened to one of the crowns, before introducing the main protagonist, John Knightley, a retired detective hired to investigate the disappearances of two men. As he delves deeper, he uncovers a web of deceit, greed, and fear, and supernatural elements threaten to unravel his own sanity.
