The King and the Chorus Girl background

The King and the Chorus Girl

A deposed monarch, Alfred VII, resides in Paris with his loyal attendants, Count Humbert and Duchess Anna, following his decision to relinquish his kingdom of two million subjects.

A former monarch, Alfred VII, now lives a life of luxury in Paris, but is consumed by boredom and depression. He's a charming and handsome man, but his routine is monotonous and he often drinks himself into a stupor. A chance encounter with a chorus girl sparks a plan by his loyal servants, Humbert and Anna, to help him break his apathy. They concoct a scheme where the girl pretends to reject him, only to have him pursue her with renewed vigor. But as their relationship deepens, the question arises: what if she falls in love with him, and not just his title and wealth?
