A soldier of fortune, Jamie Shannon, is hired by British mining interests to scout out Zangaro, a small African nation with rich mineral deposits. Arrested and imprisoned, Shannon meets a leading intellectual, Dr. Okoye, and after his release, he returns to London, offered to secretly invade Zangaro's capital and lead a military coup.
