Six years after her husband's violent death, Amelia struggles to connect with her 6-year-old son Samuel, whose behavior becomes increasingly erratic and violent. His nightmares are filled with a monster he believes is coming to kill them, and his hallucinations escalate when a mysterious book called "The Babadook" appears.
