A Canadian aboriginal woman embarks on a perilous quest to the Arctic to save a missing tribe member, only to discover her mission takes an unexpected romantic turn when she falls for a man from a rival clan.

Maïna, daughter of Innu Chief Mishte-nape, sets out on a perilous journey to rescue her friend's 11-year-old son, Nipki, who was captured by the Inuit. After witnessing a brutal clash between their clans, Maïna vows to fulfill her promise to her dying friend Matsii and embark on a treacherous path to free Nipki. However, she is taken captive by Natak, the Inuit leader, and forced to journey to the mysterious Land Without Trees.
