Powerful, indestructible creatures emerge from the Earth's underground, decimating 95% of humanity. The remaining survivors discover the creatures are confined to areas below 2,400 meters, where they live in communities. Will, a father, is left to care for his son Hunter, who suffers from respiratory problems, after his wife's expedition went awry. With his son's life dependent on medical supplies, Will sets out on a perilous journey to Boulder City, accompanied by his best friend Katie and scientist Nina, to retrieve the necessary aid before Hunter's filters run out.
