Bert Rigby, You're a Fool background

Bert Rigby, You're a Fool

A disillusioned miner from a small English town trades in his hard hat for a spotlight, leaving his friends to fight for their livelihoods as he chases his dream of stardom.

Bert Rigby, a resident of the small English town of Langmore, abandons his life at the struggling local mine to pursue a career in show business. Despite an initial disastrous stage appearance, Rigby's unorthodox comedy style resonates with the audience and he begins earning $50 a night with a traveling amateur troupe. His big break comes when a Hollywood ad director offers him a chance to work in the United States, leaving behind his pregnant wife and the life he knew.
