Personal Details

Biography

Paul Butterworth's acting career began in the 1970s at Central, London, and he has since worked extensively in British film and television.

He is likely familiar to audiences for his roles as Barry in The Full Monty, Richard in Allelujah, and Michael Ellacott in Strike.

In October 2024, he had the opportunity to film a beautiful two-hander scene, playing the character of Mr Jarvis alongside Samantha Morton, for the upcoming Daniel Day-Lewis film Anenome.

On the other end of the spectrum, he also worked on a TV comedy pitch, playing the role of Colin, the office manager, directed by Fabia Martin.

Originally from Yorkshire, Paul Butterworth currently resides in Cambridge.

As an older northern actor with a wealth of experience, he would be grateful if directors and producers considering him for future projects.

Notably, Paul Butterworth is a full voting member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History from Leeds Beckett University, which he earned in 1988, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree in Painting, achieving a 2:1 grade from the University for the Creative Arts in 2024.
