Three musically gifted chipmunks, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, are separated from their tree farm home and find themselves in Los Angeles. They meet a struggling songwriter, David Seville, and despite initial chaos, their singing talents impress him. As they work together, they achieve success, but their newfound fame is threatened by their unscrupulous record executive, Ian Hawke, who seeks to exploit the chipmunks.
