Altered Carbon

A wrongly accused prisoner is given a second chance when his consciousness is transferred into a new body, and he must now use his wits to solve a complex murder mystery in order to secure his freedom.

In a futuristic society, human consciousness is converted into digital form and stored in cortical stacks, allowing individuals to cheat death by transferring their memories and minds into new physical vessels.
