Biography

David Cubitt was born in England to a Dutch mother and British father, and at just six months old, his family relocated to Vancouver. During his university years, he worked on a cable music video show called Night Vision, where he honed his comedic skills in sketch segments. This experience marked the beginning of his passion for acting.

Cubitt then dedicated himself to studying acting full-time, but was ultimately kicked out of theatre school due to being told he "couldn't act and would never work." However, he quickly bounced back with a leading role in the feature film Alive, directed by Frank Marshall and starring Ethan Hawke.

The success of Alive propelled Cubitt's career, and he soon landed a series lead role on the hit Canadian show E.N.G. He then starred alongside Eric McCormack in Lonesome Dove for one season before being offered the lead role in the popular TV series Traders. During his time on Traders, Cubitt won numerous Gemini Awards and nominations for Best Actor.

After securing a development deal with CBS, Cubitt relocated to Los Angeles, where he landed the role of David Caruso's brother in the series Michael Hayes. Since then, he has had an extensive career in television, including a seven-season stint as a series regular on CBS' Medium, opposite Patricia Arquette.

In addition to his television work, Cubitt has appeared in a range of feature films, including Black Chicks, written and directed by Neil Labute, for which he won a 2017 Leo Award for Best Actor. He has also starred in Stonewall, Shut In, The Seventh Son, and most recently, American Woman, which premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.

Throughout his career, Cubitt has had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including A&E's Bates Motel, Showtime's Ray Donovan, CTV's The Detail, Netflix's Travelers, and most recently, Netflix's Virgin River.
