In December 1941, a small group of Soviet soldiers, trying to reach their comrades after escaping a Nazi encirclement, find themselves in an unequal battle with a Wehrmacht special unit. Among them, ordinary people become heroes, aided by the mysterious Red Ghost, a lone warrior who appears to have supernatural abilities, picking off Nazi soldiers one by one and seemingly able to disappear and reappear at will.
