A Martian spacecraft crashes near a spaceship designer's observatory, and the sole survivor, a shapeshifting alien, infiltrates the project by disguising himself as a human. As the alien, known as the "purple monster," works to steal rocket components, a former Secret Service agent, Craig Foster, tries to stop him, unaware that his trusted associate is actually the extraterrestrial.
