When a British tourist is kidnapped in Rome, a cunning criminal known as The Card Player issues a sinister challenge to the police department. He proposes a game of video poker, where the stakes are the victim's life. A British detective is sent to Rome to investigate, and as the case unfolds, another woman is kidnapped.
