Trapped in a cycle of indentured servitude, a group of villagers in 1940s rural areas toil on tea plantations, their hopes of freedom dwindling.

The movie Paradesi is based on true events that occurred in India during the 1940s, before independence. It's an adaptation of the novel Red Tea by Paul Harris Daniel, translated into Tamil as Eriyum Panikadu. The film focuses on the struggles of tea plantation workers in the Madras Presidency during the British Raj.
