Industrial designer Howard Osborne wants his daughter Jacqueline to follow in his footsteps, but she falls in love with her psychology professor Matt Reagan and decides to elope. The two families, who dislike each other, join forces to get the couple married, but Jake and Matt soon realize they've made a mistake and try to return home.
