American playwright Phillip Hannon, recently blinded, is in London revising his play, unable to write a new one due to his emotional withdrawal. He overhears a conversation at a pub that suggests a kidnapping plot and, despite the police dismissing his report, sets out to uncover the truth with the help of his secretary Jean and his manservant Bob.
