Three escaped prisoners, Joseph, Albert, and Jules, find themselves in a small French coastal town, where they rob a store to gain money and clothes. They pose as roof repairmen, but soon discover the financial struggles of the Ducotel family, exploited by the selfish André Trochard. Despite initial intentions, the convicts decide to help the family, with the aid of their pet, and spend a memorable Christmas night with the Ducotels.
