Nicklas's ordinary teenage life takes a dark turn when a school gangster brutally beats him up just before graduation. After he regains consciousness, Nicklas discovers that he has become invisible to everyone, including the authorities investigating the crime. As he tries to make his presence known, he realizes that his actions have no impact - he throws a book, but it instantly returns to its original spot. Nicklas is trapped as a powerless ghost, forced to watch as the police fail to solve the murder that has left him dead.
