Dr. Charles Cargraves and retired General Thayer must restart their moon mission after a failed rocket launch. They partner with Jim Barnes, head of an aviation construction firm, to build a new rocket. With industry leaders' support, they successfully reach the moon's surface, but Barnes' fuel consumption leaves them short on return fuel. Stripping the ship bare, they still remain 100 lbs overweight, forcing one of them to stay behind.
