Frank Vega, a decorated Vietnam veteran, returns home to find himself ostracized by society, jobless, and separated from his high-school sweetheart. However, his life takes a dramatic turn 40 years later when he heroically intervenes on a commuter bus, saving an elderly Black man from a group of skinheads. Overnight, he becomes a local hero. But his newfound fame is short-lived as his best friend, Klondike, is brutally murdered, and the police fail to take action, leaving Vega to take matters into his own hands.
