In a 1960s British neighborhood, an 11-year-old boy named David is obsessed with cricket, but his lack of skill makes him a target of ridicule at school. His life changes when a Jamaican family moves in next door and sets up a cricket net in their backyard, allowing David to learn from them and form a strong bond. However, the neighbors' hostility towards the newcomers puts David's family in a difficult position, forcing him to decide between conforming to social norms and standing up for his new friends.
