Peter Watson struggles with chronic pain and insomnia, seeking help from his fellow lodgers, including artist Nicholas and his model, but they're reluctant to intervene. As the night wears on, Watson's frustration grows, leading to a series of unfortunate events, including a confrontation with his neighbor Pollen, which ultimately attracts the attention of the police.
