Kathy, an assistant D.A., investigates the supposed suicide of a woman who had been treated by Dr. Highley for unknown reasons. The woman's husband is initially suspected of the crime, but Kathy soon discovers that Dr. Highley was also involved, having killed the woman before she could seek treatment from another doctor. Dr. Highley's true motives are revealed when Kathy learns that he suspects she may have witnessed him on the night of the murder, as she was in the hospital at the time but was under medication and unsure of what she saw.
