In this World War I drama, a novelist named Edgar Brodie is stunned to learn from the newspapers that he has passed away. Unbeknownst to him, this is a ruse created by British Intelligence, who have rebranded him as Richard Ashenden. His new mission is to infiltrate Switzerland and eliminate a German agent threatening British operations in the Middle East. Upon arrival, Ashenden finds himself face-to-face with a mysterious woman claiming to be his wife, Mrs. Ashenden, in his hotel room.
