A Confederate patrol, led by Captain Lafe Barstow, searches the western ranges of California and Nevada in a final attempt to build a strong army for the struggling Confederacy. Despite failing in their mission, they save a stagecoach from an Indian attack and are stranded on a mountain, ultimately upholding the honor of the Old South.
