The movie tells the story of a pivotal date in Latvia's fight for independence, November 11, 1919. A year after World War I ended, a rogue German general and his troops still occupied the Latvian capital, but a group of inexperienced Latvian volunteers, armed with rifles, surprisingly defeated a larger force of better-equipped German and Russian mercenaries.
