A royal family's press conference in Boston goes awry, leaving Crown Prince James Galant and his mother, Queen Gabriella, stranded in a small New England town with only their bodyguard-driver, Christopher, who missed their flight. They take refuge at a remote inn, where they meet nurse Anna, whose mother runs the inn's kitchen. As the queen reconnects with her pre-royal youth, James begins to appreciate the simple pleasures and develops feelings for Anna, who happens to work at the Boston hospital where his late father praised the staff. As the days pass, snow blocks the roads, and Cupid's arrow strikes James and Anna, as well as Christopher and Anna's reporter friend.
