A blind masseur and master swordsman, Zatoichi, seeks peace in his old village after growing tired of killing. However, he's pursued by the brother of a man he previously defeated. Upon returning home, Zatoichi reconnects with his teacher, Banno, who wants to elevate his social standing by marrying his younger sister, Yayoi, to a wealthy samurai family. Despite their growing feelings for each other, Zatoichi's request to marry Yayoi is rejected by Banno.
