In this film, a Georgian helicopter pilot named Mimino leaves his small village to pursue his dream of flying for a major international airline. He attends refresher courses in Moscow, where he meets a truck driver from Armenia, Rubik, who has mistakenly been given a room in the same hotel. Despite their adventures in Moscow, both men are homesick for their families, friends, and hometowns in the Caucasus region.
