The notorious Dalton brothers are released from prison and learn their uncle was executed. He leaves his estate to them, but only if they kill the judge and jury who sentenced him. To verify the task, they must be accompanied by a witness, Lucky Luke, who they offer a deal to. Luke agrees to supervise the killings, but secretly helps the targets fake their deaths and prepares to put the Daltons on trial.
